This position involves mentoring staff, supervising work, and contributing to the daily operations of the department. The Athletic Trainer II recognizes, manages, and rehabilitates injuries for professional, amateur, and recreational athletes, while also providing techniques for injury prevention. This role operates independently but under the direction of the Sports Medicine Supervisor and Team Physicians to manage daily operations within a school district, college, or professional athletic medicine program. The Athletic Trainer II serves as a point of contact for Allegheny Health Network (AHN) to the district or athletic department, communicating injury management within the athletic program by liaising with athletic directors, general managers, coaches, school nurses, physicians, parents, athletes, and sports medicine staff. Additional duties include developing exercise programs, performing data entry and recordkeeping, assisting with facility cleaning, and monitoring supplies. This role also acts as a peer mentor, orienting new athletic trainers, demonstrating proficiency in standard operating procedures, documentation, communication, and customer service. The Athletic Trainer II provides feedback and performance evaluation input for other athletic trainer positions, mentors students and interns, and assists employees with concussion baseline software and mass testing exams. This position provides clinical leadership oversight and serves as a department resource for clinical questions for Athletic Trainer I and II positions.
