The Athletic Trainer- Clinical performs injury assessments and refers patients for necessary care. They communicate with patients to triage, answer questions, and instruct in self-care, prevention, and treatment. This role involves communicating with physicians and the medical team to determine the need for special tests or services, establishing a plan of care, and implementing individual treatments based on evaluation results and health goals using appropriate techniques. The Athletic Trainer monitors and evaluates outcomes, adjusting treatment plans as needed, and recognizes potential issues, advocating for patients by working with physicians and key professionals. They identify factors affecting patient comfort, provide patient after-visit summaries including home exercise programs and patient/family teaching, and complete all required documentation following department policy. This role also involves patient positioning, transferring, and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development across the lifespan and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
