About The Position

Supports injured athletes by facilitating office visits within physician office practices. Responsible for following patient care from check in to check out. Acts as a liaison between patient, physician, or physician office staff. Responsible for taking patient history, triage, and documentation. Designs and educates patients on home exercise protocols per the physician's request. Responsible for patient setup and education of in-office procedures. Prepares for and assists the physician with in-office procedures. Responsible for brace and crutch fitting and DME education. Triages patient messages, phone calls, and questions appropriately, either by resolving the issue within the scope of practice or by utilizing the physician, nurse, and other ancillary staff as needed. Counsels patients regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes. Supports the Rehabilitation clinic operations to optimize patient throughput. Supports Rehabilitation Services patients as directed by the Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist. Performs the role of Athletic Trainer - Outreach Staff if participating in offsite event coverage. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Sports Medicine or other related program (Required)
Specific experience with general principles of injury prevention and first aid (Required)
Physically and cognitively able to provide care and to be able to assist in moving people and/or equipment. (Required proficiency)
Athletic Training Licensure (AT) in the State of Ohio (Required Upon Hire)

Nice To Haves

1+ years experience as an Athletic Trainer (Preferred)
Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) (Preferred)
