About The Position

The Athletic Grounds Attendant is responsible for the landscape of all the athletic and sports complex areas on the high school campus. This role involves maintaining the grounds of all sports complexes (excluding playing surfaces), operating sprinkler systems, marking game fields, maintaining mowing and service equipment, and setting up/tearing down facilities for game day events. The position also includes cultivating, fertilizing, watering, and spraying plants, as well as operating hand and power tools for ground maintenance. The attendant must understand grounds maintenance procedures, athletic field markings, pest control, and safety regulations, and be able to complete other necessary tasks to ensure efficient operation of the athletic and sports complex areas. Attendance at approved professional development activities is also expected.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency
A valid Oklahoma drivers license
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
Basic grounds maintenance procedures including mowing, edging, raking, and weeding.
Methods, equipment, and materials used in gardening and grounds maintenance work.
Ability to work without close supervision.
Proficient in multitasking.
Dependable and punctual
Good health and high energy level.
Ability to lift objects weighing 40 lbs or more.
Ability to climb and descend a ladder.
Extensive kneeling, crawling, and bending.
Ability to tolerate a stressful environment.
Ability to lift objects above shoulder level.
Extensive pushing, pulling, and twisting.

Nice To Haves

Understanding of methods, tools and materials to include but not limited to: Cultivating and maintaining landscaped and athletic field areas; Athletic fields and track boundaries and markings; Basic methods and materials used in controlling weeds and other pests; and Health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Maintain the grounds of all the sports complexes, excluding the playing surfaces.
Maintain the operations of all sprinkler systems of the athletic fields.
Mark game fields with paint for practices and games.
Maintain the mowing equipment and service equipment when needed.
Set up facilities for game day events.
Tear down facilities after game day events.
Cultivating, fertilizing, watering and spraying of flowers, trees and shrubs.
Operation of hand and power tools and equipment used in ground maintenance.
Complete other tasks that may be necessary to maintain an efficient operation of all the athletic and sports complex areas on the high school campus.
Attend approved professional development activities that may improve professional competence or enhance the job purpose.
