About The Position

The Athletic Director and Physical Education Teacher provides leadership, oversight, and vision for Weston Christian Academy's athletic program while teaching elementary and middle school physical education classes. This position is responsible for developing a Christ-centered athletic culture that promotes spiritual growth, character development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and athletic excellence. The Athletic Director serves as the primary administrator for all athletic programs and works collaboratively with students, parents, coaches, faculty, and school leadership to support the mission of Weston Christian Academy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Health Education, Exercise Science, or a related field required.
  • Florida State Certification in Education and/or Florida Professional Certification, ACSI Certification (may be obtained within the first two years of employment).
  • Committed Christian and active member in good standing of a Christian church.
  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a mature Christian worldview.
  • Strong alignment with the Philosophy and Statement of Faith of First Baptist Church at Weston and the mission of Weston Christian Academy.
  • Model a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Demonstrate Christian character in all interactions with students, parents, faculty, and the community.
  • A love for teaching, especially the Word.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Christ-centered discipleship through athletics by encouraging coaches and student-athletes to model biblical character, leadership, and sportsmanship.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for all athletic programs and activities.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive athletic program that aligns with the mission and philosophy of Weston Christian Academy.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate coaching staff.
  • Coordinate athletic schedules, including games, practices, tournaments, and special events.
  • Work with coaches and school administration to arrange transportation and travel logistics for athletic teams.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with athletic conferences, leagues, and governing organizations.
  • Coordinate postseason participation and championship events with league officials.
  • Monitor student-athlete eligibility and communicate with school administrators regarding academic and behavioral requirements.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee the athletic budget, including equipment, facilities, officials, uniforms, transportation, and coaching stipends.
  • Ensure compliance with all school policies and athletic association regulations.
  • Maintain athletic records, statistics, and program documentation.
  • Oversee the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of athletic facilities and equipment.
  • Promote athletic programs through effective communication with parents, students, and the school community.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding athletic schedules, expectations, policies, and program updates.
  • Coordinate athletic awards, recognitions, or special events.
  • Support student discipline and assist administration with student behavioral situations, particularly involving male students, as assigned by the Principal.
  • Teach elementary and middle school physical education classes.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Prepare and submit lesson plans, including semester, quarterly, weekly, and daily instructional planning.
  • Ensure that all lesson plans, instructional activities, and assessments align with established course standards and learning objectives.
  • Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of student achievement.
  • Create a positive and safe learning environment that reflects biblical values.
  • Integrate biblical principles into instruction and student interactions.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support the overall educational program of the school.
  • Read WCA email/staff communications to remain informed and respond if requested to do so. This should be done upon arrival, midday, and before departure.
