About The Position

This role involves assisting with a variety of Broadcast tasks, including video production, engineering, and event production. The position requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to safety measures, and the ability to maintain quality control. It offers hands-on experience in Broadcast and contributes to productions on Liberty’s campus. The student worker will collaborate with various Broadcast departments on diverse projects, follow directions precisely, manage multiple tasks under deadlines, and coordinate with staff and managers. Office work may also be required. The role also involves working as a member of the Athletic Creative Team to meet the creative needs of Liberty Athletics, demonstrating competency with social media platforms, and understanding how to use video and photo content to tell stories in athletics. Additionally, the role may involve proficiency with software like Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Photoshop, ProVideoPlayer, and ProPresenter, staying focused in stressful situations, discerning and communicating equipment and personnel needs, understanding principles of sound reinforcement, stage lighting, live video production, signal flow, electricity, and computer systems, supporting spiritual enrichment, and adapting to dynamic live event situations. For The Journey Student Worker, responsibilities include coordinating with staff, recording/editing/producing station content, gathering audio, assisting with promotions, creating social media content, and supporting station events.

  • Proficiency with software programs such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Photoshop, ProVideoPlayer, and ProPresenter.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of sound reinforcement, stage lighting, live video production, signal flow, electricity, and computer systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write in English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Must possess remarkable auditory skills to accurately detect and interpret various sounds—such as pitch, tone, clarity, and spatial cues—to identify technical audio problems, maintain creative content quality, and communicate clearly with team members in fast-paced broadcast settings.
  • Must possess exceptional visual acuity, including the ability to see fine details and accurately distinguish colors, in order to identify visual defects, maintain the creative and technical quality of video content, and carry out precise tasks such as equipment installation, signal monitoring, and system calibration.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Some proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite applications, specifically Photoshop and Lightroom.
  • Demonstrate competency with social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  • Understanding of athletics and how to use video and photo content to tell a story.
  • Photography and/or videography experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with a variety of Broadcast tasks, such as video production, engineering, and event production.
  • Willing to work with various Broadcast departments on a variety of projects.
  • Handle multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines.

  • Work as a member of the Athletic Creative Team to ensure that the creative needs of Liberty Athletics are met.
  • Record, edit, and produce station promos, PSAs, and imaging.
  • Gather audio for morning show (interviews, listener comments, etc.).
  • Assist Promotions Coordinator with inventory and packaging promotional items.
  • Assist with creation of social media content.
  • Assist with event support to help the station engage listeners.
  • Stay focused in stressful situations.
  • Discern and communicate equipment and personnel needs to technicians for automated and staffed university events.
  • Support the spiritual enrichment of others by maintaining a focus on ministry in the workplace.
  • Eagerness to learn to troubleshoot equipment issues that may arise.
  • Quickly adapt to developing work situations due to the dynamic nature of live events.
