About The Position

Under the supervision of the Principal and/or school Athletic Director, the Athletic Coach coaches scholars in a specific sport during the established season. The Athletic Coach is responsible for providing safe, structured, and developmentally appropriate athletic instruction for scholars while supporting their physical, social, and emotional growth. This role emphasizes scholar supervision, safety, sportsmanship, and collaboration with school leadership to ensure athletic programming aligns with school and league expectations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent.

  • 1+ years experience coaching or working with scholars in an athletic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and instruct scholars in a sport, and instruct scholars in the proper use of equipment and rules of the specific sport.
  • Supervise scholars in the locker room, during practices, during athletic competitions, and on buses to and from athletic competitions.
  • Maintain proper inventory and care of equipment and facilities.
  • Assess scholar performance and make coaching decisions without regard to outside teen/youth affiliations.
  • Supervise scholar-athletes during all practices, games, travel, and athletic-related activities.
  • Implement safety protocols, injury prevention practices, and emergency procedures in alignment with school and league requirements.
  • Monitor scholar behavior and enforce team and school expectations.
  • Plan and lead practices and competitions that support skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Maintain attendance, eligibility, and required documentation as directed by the Athletic Director.
  • Ensure proper use, care, and inventory of athletic equipment.
  • Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director regarding schedules, scholar needs, and program logistics.
  • Support coordination with officials, transportation providers, and league partners as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding practice schedules, game details, attendance expectations, and scholar-athlete participation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for families to support clear communication, transparency, and scholar safety.
  • Coordinate with the Athletic Director and school staff to ensure family communications are accurate and aligned with school expectations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
