About The Position

This position is for a Head Coach for Varsity Girls Volleyball. The coach will operate the program within the school's philosophy, administer game details, assign and convey information to assistant coaches, and ensure awareness of legal responsibilities. The role involves providing for the care and maintenance of equipment and facilities, recommending letter winners, and using professionally sound coaching methods. The coach must be competent in the sport, motivate staff and players, and set a pattern for positive public relations. The position requires compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies, participation in training programs, and adherence to safety rules and procedures. The coach must also follow federal, state, and School Board policies and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any General Education Development (GED) Testing Program.
  • Must hold a valid Florida Educator Certificate.
  • Applicants who do not hold a valid Florida Educator Certificate will be required to obtain an Athletic Coaching Certificate from the Florida Department of Education.
  • Knowledge of the sport and the ability to impart this knowledge.
  • Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
  • Shall have a knowledge of the activity and be able to impart this knowledge to the participants.
  • Computer skills as required for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a program within the philosophy of the school.
  • Ably administer game details for home and away contests.
  • Assign assistant coaches specific duties.
  • Ensure that all information and materials are conveyed to assistants.
  • Be fully aware of legal responsibilities of his/her activity, take precautions against negligence, and keep the staff fully informed thereof.
  • Provide for care, maintenance, and ordering of equipment and facilities for the entire program.
  • Recommend assistant coaches.
  • Recommend letter winners.
  • Use professionally sound coaching methods.
  • Set a good example for assistants.
  • Be highly competent in the activity (i.e., rules, techniques, strategies and skills).
  • Motivate the staff and players toward desired goals.
  • Set the pattern for wholesome public relations within the school, community and other schools involved.
  • Interpret his/her program to the community as a part of the complete educational program.
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
  • Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
  • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
