About The Position

The Athletic Academic Advisor provides service to the Academic Center for Student-Athletes through academic counseling for assigned teams, as well as assisting in the coordination of the tutorial program. The Athletic Academic Advisor monitors the academic progress of assigned teams, including weekly meetings with student-athletes and coaching staff, creating weekly academic reports, and communicating with faculty, in addition to monitoring continuing eligibility to ensure students are meeting NCAA academic requirements. The Athletic Academic Advisor provides support in coordinating the tutorial program by assisting in supervising and training peer tutors.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree preferably in counseling, education, special education, curriculum and instruction, sports administration, or sport related field.
One year of professional experience working with student-athletes in academic advising, teaching, and counseling.
Excellent communication, organizational, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

Master's Degree in counseling, education, or sport administration.
Three years of professional experience working with student-athletes in academic advising, teaching or counseling, preferably at a Division I level.
Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Monitor the academic progress of assigned teams.
Assist in coordinating the tutorial program.
Assist in monitoring continuing eligibility.
Instruct a freshmen introduction to the university course (fall only).
Assist in the recruitment and orientation of new student-athletes.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
