About The Position

The Cyclotron Operator is responsible for the safe operation of ATG’s isotope production cyclotrons and target stations. They also participate in maintenance, repair activities as well as projects. All our Operators works a rotating shift schedule.

Requirements

  • Safety awareness, good mechanical and electrical aptitudes.
  • After receiving the formal on-the-job training, good technical knowledge of accelerator systems and analytical skills are required for this position.
  • Flexibility to deal with changing priorities and systematic, reliable response to critical situations are essential.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are also required.
  • The incumbent will be required to complete the TRIUMF in-house radiation safety training course and be designated as a TRIUMF Nuclear Energy Worker.
  • Graduate from a relevant engineering technology program at a technical college in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics or robotics, or a relevant undergraduate degree in related science or engineering discipline.
  • At least one year of experience in operations, or a combination of equivalent education and experience with electro-mechanical systems.
  • Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).

Responsibilities

  • Safe operation of all accelerators, target stations, the target transfer system and subsystems in the isotope production facilities
  • Safe operation of the building control system and the nuclear ventilation.
  • Troubleshooting and performing maintenance and repairs of cyclotrons systems and related equipment
  • Performing safety related functions (surveys) as required
  • Keeping thorough and clear documentation as it relates to the operation of the isotope production facility.
  • Taking part in projects to improve the reliability and performance of equipment.
