About The Position

SAIC is seeking an experienced, full-time ATC Training Lab Manager to join the SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team. This role will provide Air Traffic Controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at the Anchorage Approach Control (A11) facility in Anchorage, AK. The Lab Manager will assist in the overall administration of ATC training simulation exercises/scenarios, coordinate with Course Managers or Lead Instructors, and may oversee contractor personnel supporting the contract. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for ensuring air traffic control specialists provide a high level of safety and professionalism to the flying public. A well-trained Air Traffic Control (ATC) workforce is essential for this responsibility. The FAA employs over 14,000 Air Traffic Controllers who work in various-sized facilities, ensuring safe separation of over 50,000 aircraft daily in the National Airspace System (NAS). To provide these services, the FAA trains new and recurrently trains current air traffic control specialists. Contractor-provided instructional services are utilized at FAA ATC facilities across the U.S. and its Territories to meet these training needs. The scope of contractor services includes all training and support required to successfully train and prepare students to become fully certified Air Traffic Controllers. SAIC must provide training and related support services for all types and levels of ATC facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining a lab schedule and being the focal point for lab scheduling changes
  • Ensuring lab equipment is ready for use as transcribed in the schedule
  • The schedule must include start and stop times for scenarios, and the specific data inputs required for initiating simulation exercises
  • Monitoring training positions for proper operation of equipment and notifying the appropriate office of any equipment malfunctions
  • Supporting Scenario Development
  • Maintaining the operation of the lab at the facility
  • Configuring/changing the lab to meet specific training requirements
  • Managing lab training files
  • Planning, coordinating, scheduling and directing operations and resources for training simulation labs
  • Developing, operating, and maintaining simulation scenario library
  • Configuring and updating simulator capabilities to meet training requirements as defined in the Annual Work Plan
  • Maintaining simulation training documentation
