About The Position

For over 40 years, Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin (OAW) has been the state’s premier orthopedic practice, delivering exceptional care through innovation and expertise. Our team includes highly skilled orthopedic surgeons and dedicated health professionals—all working together at the forefront of surgical advancements, rehabilitation, and patient education. We believe that investing in our staff leads to better patient outcomes. At OAW, there is a difference. This hybrid position consists of two weighted roles: ATC Physician Extender (60%) The ATC Physician Extender assists physicians in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of orthopedic conditions. This role demands a strong foundation in athletic training, musculoskeletal medicine, physical therapy, and clinical knowledge. It plays a critical role in improving recovery outcomes by bridging the gap between athletic training and medical intervention—ensuring coordinated, comprehensive care for patients with sports-related or musculoskeletal injuries. Clinical Medical Assistant (40%) The Clinical Medical Assistant supports providers in the administration of patient care within an orthopedic clinic. Responsibilities include assisting with clinical procedures, preparing patients for examination, and performing select administrative tasks to maintain efficient clinic operations. Coverage Expectations When the assigned physician is out of the office, the ATC Physician Extender/Clinical Medical Assistant is expected to first offer coverage to the designated physician group on those Physician Extender coverage dates. If coverage within the physician group is not needed, the individual may then provide additional support as a Medical Assistant in clinic or assist with Nursing Triage, as appropriate, prior to taking time off.
