About The Position

The At-Risk Paraprofessional supports students (grades 3-6) experiencing academic, social-emotional, or behavioral challenges that jeopardize their school success. Working closely with classroom teachers, special educators, counselors, and administration, this role implements targeted interventions, behavioral intervention plans (BIPs), and de-escalation strategies. The ideal candidate builds trust-based relationships with elementary school students, models restorative practices, and fosters a supportive environment to improve student engagement, behavior, and attendance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School diploma
  • Successful experience working with school-age children who need behavior support

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree or 60 college credit hours

Responsibilities

  • Supervise in-school Restorative Room
  • Facilitate restorative/reflective conversations with students to promote positive behaviors
  • Assist with supervision of students to minimize disruptive behaviors
  • Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions and behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, and accelerated
  • Model self-regulation strategies that assist students in assessing their own work and behaviors
  • Provide recognition of a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors
  • Continually supervise students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve District and building, goals
  • Assist with student attendance monitoring, parent contacts, student conversations
  • Truancy follow up - Making phone calls to parents
