About The Position

The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) is dedicated to eliminating health inequities and premature mortality. CHECW focuses on social determinants of health, addressing both upstream and downstream factors to improve the health and well-being of New Yorkers through various bureaus, including the Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health. The Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health collaborates with clinical and community partners to enhance access to high-quality, culturally responsive programs for chronic disease prevention and management, particularly for vulnerable populations. The Bureau offers public health and social services, organizes community events, fosters partnerships, and conducts research and evaluation to drive evidence-based actions, reduce health disparities, and promote equity in the Bronx. Programs include diabetes and asthma education, nutrition, food security, newborn safety, and childbirth classes, all aimed at empowering New Yorkers with knowledge and tools for healthier lives. The Bureau of Bronx Neighborhood Health is seeking an Asthma Program Analyst to manage the day-to-day data collection and analysis for the Asthma Program.

Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.
  • Three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization (if appointed to Assignment Level II or above with a Master's degree).
  • At least two years of experience in responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization (if appointed to Assignment Level II or above with a Master's degree and equivalent education/experience).
  • Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in Assignment Level II or above.
  • A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization (if appointed to Assignment Level II or above).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of data collection processes.
  • Analyze program data.
  • Respond to data requests and conduct literature reviews.
  • Prepare routine and special reports on neighborhood and program data analyses.
  • Supervise data entry.
  • Coordinate with other Bronx Asthma Program staff on asthma program evaluation activities.
  • Represent the program at departmental, local, statewide, and national meetings.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of findings through peer-reviewed manuscripts, technical reports, presentations, and other formats to promote knowledge sharing and program visibility.
