About The Position

Merjent, Inc. (Merjent) is seeking highly motivated and experienced Assured Wetland Delineators to lead, manage, and mentor staff in conducting wetland delineations primarily in Wisconsin. Primary duties include field delineations, proposal writing, reporting, client management, and regulatory and permitting support. The work environment will consist of both urban and remote field settings, which may include work in adverse weather conditions, and, in some instances, irregular and/or steep terrain. 5-10% overnight travel is anticipated. These are full-time benefits eligible opportunities with an anticipated base wage from $94,800 to $127,800 per year depending on qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will be Wisconsin-based and bring a strong understanding of the state's natural resources, along with proven experience working with Wisconsin regulatory agencies and their permitting and compliance protocols. Work schedule is flexible and focused on meeting project and project team needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Biology, Ecology, Soil Science, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of full-time professional experience conducting wetland delineation surveys.
  • Wisconsin DNR Assured wetland delineator credentials.
  • Knowledge of WDNR and USACE jurisdictional wetland regulations.
  • Familiarity using Trimble and ESRI products.
  • Excellent oral and written technical communication and organizational skills, and ability to strategize on multiple concurrent projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Competency in general MS Office applications (Word, Excel) required.
  • Ability to conduct field work for 8+ hours per day, sometimes in adverse conditions carrying equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen if required

  • Willingness to work on restoration, habitat planning and utility permitting is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct wetland delineations and assessments.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, memos, and other documents for project planning and permitting purposes.
  • Manage projects and lead permitting and regulatory tasks.
  • Perform wildlife habitat and/or botanical assessments and species-specific surveys (if qualified).
  • Ability and willingness to mentor staff.
  • Apply situational awareness to mitigate in-field risks and ensure compliance with industry standards and client-specific safety requirements.
