About The Position

GMCO is seeking an experienced Assurance Manager to join our growing public accounting practice. This role is ideal for a collaborative and client-focused professional who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for developing people and delivering exceptional client service. As an Assurance Manager, you will lead and manage audit, review, and assurance engagements for clients across a variety of industries while serving as a key advisor to business owners, executives, and engagement teams. You will oversee engagement execution, provide technical guidance, manage engagement economics, and foster strong client relationships throughout the year. This role also offers the opportunity to mentor and develop emerging professionals while contributing to the continued success and growth of the firm's assurance practice. The ideal candidate brings a commitment to quality, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to balance client needs, team development, and engagement objectives in a fast-paced public accounting environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of recent public accounting experience in assurance, audit, or attest services with demonstrated progression in responsibility and engagement leadership.
  • Active CPA license
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, financial reporting, and audit methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success supervising, mentoring and developing staff and senior associates.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly and effectively to clients and team members.
  • Proficiency with audit technology platforms, digital workpaper systems, Microsoft Office applications, and data analysis tools; adaptable to emerging technologies and process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality client service in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage assurance engagements throughout the full engagement lifecycle ensuring appropriate stakeholder involvement, timely execution, and compliance with U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and firm methodologies.
  • Evaluate complex accounting, auditing, and financial reporting matters, providing recommendations and guidance to clients, engagement teams and firm leadership.
  • Manage engagement economics with financial and operational discipline by overseeing pricing, budgeting, billing, scope management, staffing, and resource allocation while meeting profitability and delivery expectations.
  • Act as a trusted business advisor by developing and maintaining strong relationships with client executives and key stakeholders through proactive communication regarding engagement status, audit findings, accounting developments, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Help clients identify opportunities to improve financial reporting, operational performance, internal controls, and overall business effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with tax, advisory, outsourced accounting, and consulting teams to deliver integrated client solutions and identify opportunities to expand services.
  • Support business development initiatives by strengthening client relationships, identifying opportunities within existing relationships, supporting cross-selling efforts and developing new business opportunities, within the construction sector.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop staff and senior associates through engagement supervision, performance feedback, coaching, internal training, and career development guidance.
  • Support firm initiatives and operational excellence by contributing ideas, embracing change, promoting collaboration, and demonstrating a firm-first mindset.
  • Demonstrate and uphold core values including integrity, quality, innovation, stewardship, and inclusivity in all aspects of client service and team leadership.
