At HBK, the firm's internship program is designed to provide a valuable and challenging "hands-on" learning experience, to develop an understanding of the firm, the public accounting profession and to enhance the intern's formal education. You will accomplish this by: Understanding clients' needs and expectations, their business and industry, accounting and control systems, employees, company values and industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues. Developing an understanding of the audit approach and tools. Assessing risks and evaluating the client's internal control structure. Performing analytics, substantive tests, and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues. Drafting financial statements. Contributing to the firm by providing timely and high-quality work products. Working closely with team members across all levels of the organization and performing many of the same responsibilities as a first-year associate. Working on various audit projects. Gaining a better understanding of how public accounting firms operate. Strengthening communication, analytical, and professional skills through hands-on experience Gaining insight into what it takes to build a successful career in the public accounting industry

Requirements

  • Sophomore or junior candidate pursuing a major in accounting
  • Actively pursuing or interest in pursuing the CPA designation
  • Must possess excellent computer, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must pass an employment background check
