The Asst Store Director directs and controls the operation of the Center Store Departments, including supervising and training personnel to achieve departmental and store sales and profit objectives. They provide feedback and recommendations on operational issues and personnel decisions to the Store Director and Division Management. The primary duty is management of the Center Store Departments, including dairy and frozen food sections. This role plans, organizes and directs day-to-day operations, conducts daily inspections, maintains in-stock conditions, and ensures compliance with product quality, rotation, cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and security standards. They control pricing, implement operating and merchandising policies, control merchandise shrink, and supervise inventory counts. The Asst Store Director establishes operating procedures, implements emergency procedures, orders grocery product, maintains inventory levels, supervises processing of reclamation, and maintains orderly conditions in back rooms and sales floors. They supervise receiving, storing, stocking, pricing, and merchandising of products, and may utilize hand trucks, pallet jacks, and a bailer. They properly account for merchandise received and handle positive customer and vendor relations, engaging in suggestive selling. The role monitors daily logs, purchase reports, sales, and labor, and prepares product signage. Under the Store Director's supervision, they direct the work of Center Store Department associates, schedule associates, and direct, motivate, train, and participate in hiring. They ensure associates are knowledgeable about policies and procedures, monitor associate performance, and recommend personnel actions. They build and maintain associate morale, resolve complaints, and immediately report potential serious policy violations. They identify and train associates with high potential and understand the store and department Profit and Loss statement, planning promotions accordingly. They communicate sales goals and performance to associates, respond to telephone calls, and resolve customer complaints. They maintain confidentiality and accurate department records, performing all duties with honesty and integrity. Attendance at required training and sales meetings is necessary.
