From your PASSION to ours:Lactalis USA, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring an Assistant Manager/Ricotta Packaging based in Buffalo, New York. 1st with flexibility needed to work off shift and weekends as needed. Summary: Ensures the department is running in a safe, productive manner. Focuses on production, quality and people. Identifies, investigates and works to solve problems that arise. Works closely with department employees and reports any issues to the Ricotta Manager and/or Associate Manager.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in packaging/manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform a multitude of tasks.
  • Knowledge of computer software: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in business administration or dairy science preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and evaluates information concerning daily operations and how these results positive or negatively affect department performance.
  • Monitors floor activities in department.
  • Monitors punches and ensure there is sufficient personnel including any temporary hours.
  • Complete all records and charts as required.
  • Performs administrative managerial duties in an accurate, timely and professional manner. (Phone calls, voice mail, paperwork, meeting presentations.)
  • Meets regularly with shift supervisors and sanitation
  • Supervisor to stay informed about all issues arising in the department.
  • Works with all departments to ensure proper adherence to GMP, GSP and QC policies and procedures
  • Actively work on production floor to facilitate the exchange of data between various departments.
  • Operates with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures and goals.
  • Suggest and debate alternative methods and procedures in solving issues that arise.
  • Identifies strengths and/or weaknesses of the employees and demonstrate the ability to train and coach to strengthen weaknesses and utilize strengths.
  • Collects and provides any data necessary for budget creation and implementation.
  • Participates in operating budget, goals, and objectives of the department and works toward meeting and/or exceeding these expectations.
  • Department employee meetings conducted on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.
  • Responsible for hiring and scheduling required within the department, including temporary staff if necessary.
  • Maintains open communication with all employees including department managers.
  • Implement special projects and procedures as directed.
  • Maintains departmental sanitation and safety operations. Enforces all GMP’s, Quality, OSHA, and AIB specifications.
  • Maintains employee files including payroll, attendance record, vacation, tardiness, disciplinary review, and annual performance reviews.
  • Find cost savings within the department’s daily parameters.
  • Works close with maintenance on a variety of issues related to equipment, department maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Aware of and practice Plant’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as well as Good Sanitation Practices (GSP).
