POSITION SUMMARY The primary role of the Day Services Assistant Manager is to ensure that all of the needs of the people supported in the program are met while working in partnership with them to achieve their personal outcomes. This includes working with them to develop daily living, professional and informed decision-making skills while also supporting their health and safety and ensures their rights are both promoted and respected. In order to accomplish this, the Assistant Manager leads a team of Community Direct Support Professionals (CDSPs) and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and in conjunction with residential and clinical providers to work alongside the people they support to develop plans to meet the individual’s needs. The Assistant Manager is also responsible for ensuring that these plans are both followed and documented in an appropriate manner. In addition, the Assistant Manager is responsible for providing supervision and support to the CDSPs and DSPs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum one (1) year experience supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities
  • Valid CPR/FA and SCIP certifications required (provided upon hire if needed)
  • Communication and organizational skills
  • Computer skills and ability to learn relevant applications
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfy criteria to be an agency driver required
  • Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours).
  • Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax and filing cabinets.
  • Employee might be required to lift/move light items.

  • Maintains ongoing communication with the individuals, residential staff, family members, and other collateral providers involved with the program and individuals served.
  • Interviews, hires, develops, and retains high quality staff.
  • Supervises, trains, observes, and evaluated assigned Community Direct Support Professionals (CDSPs) and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
  • Completes initial period of employment performance appraisals in conjunction with the agency training packet.
  • Completes employee annual performance appraisals as per agency policy.
  • Trains assigned Community Direct Support Professionals/Direct Support Professionals in the appropriate implementation of services, activities, interactions, and documentation.
  • Trains team members on the electronic record keeping system (Medisked) in order for them to provide/document services.
  • Ensures required documentation is completed accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner (contemporaneously) by assigned Community Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professionals.
  • Completes daily validations.
  • Coordinates and completes the required annual/semi-annual review process for individuals assigned.
  • Accurately documents daily service provision, monthly notes, and other information as required.
  • Attends assigned individuals’ life plans (annual/semi-annual), IDT, and other required meetings.
  • Oversees that the recommendations made at meetings are carried out.
  • Monitors assigned individuals progress on a monthly and on an as needed basis.
  • Ensures all records of individuals assigned are kept up to date (paper and digital).
  • Attends committee meetings as required or assigned.
  • Assists in the training and orientation of new staff and/or floating staff.
  • Assumes the full responsibilities of QIDP for assigned caseload.
  • Obtains required documentation from collateral providers and ensure documentation is scanned into the individuals’ electronic records.
  • Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction.
  • Ensures all CDSP/DSP team members are fulfilling the roles and responsibilities of their positions; provides supervision and guidance to all team members working in the program on an ongoing basis.
  • Addresses performance issues though performance improvement or corrective action measures.
  • Manages and approves team members’ time worked in the program.
  • Keeps the Day Services Manager informed of significant matters that occur throughout the day.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled mini-team meetings and staff meetings in conjunction with the Day Services Manager.

  • Completes all required trainings.
  • Ensures all team members remain in compliance with required trainings (SCIP, CPR, AMAP & all required Relias monthly trainings).
  • Reviews and implements all requisite documentation, including fire safety, team member trainings, etc. accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner in accordance with New York State and/or Federal regulations and agency policy, if applicable.
  • Reports all violations and/or accidents in Agency or personal vehicle to your supervisor/police in accordance with New York State regulations and agency policy.
  • Follows OSHA regulations, and ensure all staff follow OSHA regulations, including universal precautions.
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Ensures that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is completed /processed appropriately, in a timely manner, and meets quality and compliance thresholds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with FREE policies, procedures, and operating standards.
  • Implements a continuous quality improvement process for department services and administrative functions.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and administration of Human Resources policies and programs including compliance with Equal Employment Opportunities and Affirmative Action Programs.
