About The Position

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent position is responsible assisting the Golf Course Superintendent in the overall maintenance of the golf course and the common areas (clubhouse grounds, parking lot, etc…)

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have some knowledge of proper agronomy and turf grass practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Proficiency in all types of golf course mowers – including, but not limited to; greens mowers, zero turns, fairway mowers, gang mowers, and rough mowers.
  • Skilled in handling multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Skilled in operating a variety of hand tools and small/medium equipment, including but not limited to; weed eaters, chain saws, mowers, tractors, sprayers, and blowers.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of golf course maintenance experience preferred.
  • 2-year turf degree preferred.
  • Georgia pesticide applicators license preferred.
  • Golf Course Superintendents of America Association (GCSAA) membership preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent by implementing all the programs and mowing schedules for greens, tee-boxes, fairways, rough areas, and bunkers.
  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with the maintenance of the irrigation systems.
  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in the application of pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides, and fungicides on the golf course – if the employee has the proper applicator license.
  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with the maintenance and repair of all the golf course equipment.
  • Schedule, train, and supervise the seasonal maintenance workers.
