About The Position

The Assistant Girls Wrestling Coach - Middle School position is responsible for instructing athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. The coach will also instill positive character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride in student athletes. This role involves upgrading knowledge and skills through clinics and observations, adhering to school athletic policies, and maintaining good public relations with various stakeholders. The position requires a thorough understanding of the sport, effective communication, and the ability to serve as a positive role model.

Requirements

  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (Major sports).
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
  • Ability to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
  • Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
  • Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Plainwell Community Schools' Board of Education and responsibility for their implementation.
  • Knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations; implement them consistently and interpret them for staff.
  • Understand the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests or grievances through proper channels.
  • Awareness of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
  • Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff.
  • Design conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program.
  • Delegate specific duties, supervise implementation, and evaluate all assistants at the end of the season.
  • Maintain discipline and adjust grievances.
  • Work to increase morale and cooperation.
  • Provide proper safeguards for the maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
  • Serve as a mentor to each athlete.
  • Give constant attention to a student athlete's grades and conduct.
  • Provide training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete.
  • Initiate programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
  • Complete paperwork on all disabling athletic injuries on proper forms and submit to the athletic office within 24 hours.
  • Determine discipline and delineate procedures concerning due process when enforcement of discipline is necessary.
  • Contract parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.
  • Assist athletes in their college or advanced educational selection.
  • Participate in the budgeting function with the athletic director by establishing requirements for the next season.
  • Recommend equipment guidelines as to type, style, color, or technical specifications.
  • Be responsible for operating within budget appropriations.
  • Be accountable for all equipment and collect the cost of any equipment lost or not returned.
  • Arrange for issuing, storing, and reconditioning of equipment and submit annual inventory and current records.
  • Properly mark and identify all equipment before issuing or storing.
  • Monitor equipment rooms and coaches' offices, authorizing who may enter, issue, or requisition equipment.
  • Permit athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.
  • Examine locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility.
  • Be responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.
  • Secure all doors, lights, windows, and locks before leaving the building if custodians are not on duty.
  • Instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.
  • Organize parents, coaches, players, and guests for preseason meetings.
  • Promote the sport within the school through recruiting athletes who are not in another sports program.
  • Promote the sport outside the school through news media, little league programs, or in any other feasible manner.
  • Be responsible for the quality, effectiveness, and validity of any oral or written release to local media.
  • Be responsible for maintaining good public relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
  • Present information to news media concerning schedules, tournaments, and results.

Responsibilities
