About The Position

Plymouth State University is seeking a motivated, knowledgeable, and student-centered Assistant Baseball Coach to join the baseball coaching staff. The Assistant Coach will support the Head Baseball Coach in all aspects of developing a competitive NCAA Division III baseball program while fostering the academic, athletic, and personal growth of student-athletes. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic coach and mentor who demonstrates a strong commitment to player development, recruiting, academic achievement, team culture, and the overall mission of Plymouth State University.

Requirements

  • Collegiate baseball playing and/or coaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with college-aged student-athletes.
  • Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required by the baseball schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Collegiate coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division III level.
  • Recruiting experience and familiarity with NCAA recruiting regulations.
  • Experience with video analysis, scouting technology, or other baseball performance tools.
  • Experience coaching a specific position or area such as pitching, hitting, catching, infield, or outfield.
  • Experience organizing or coaching baseball camps and clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with the planning and implementation of all aspects of the baseball program.
  • Assist with practice planning, game preparation, in-game coaching, and post-game evaluation.
  • Provide individual and position-specific instruction focused on fundamental skill development, baseball IQ, and overall athletic performance.
  • Assist with the recruitment and retention of prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with prospective student-athletes, families, high school coaches, and club/organization coaches.
  • Assist with scouting and evaluating opponents and prospective student-athletes.
  • Support strength and conditioning, injury prevention, and other performance-related initiatives in coordination with appropriate university personnel.
  • Mentor student-athletes and promote academic success, personal responsibility, leadership, and community engagement.
  • Help establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, competitive, and team-oriented culture.
  • Assist with team travel, scheduling, equipment management, field preparation, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Participate in fundraising, alumni relations, community outreach, camps, clinics, and other baseball program initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with NCAA, conference, university, and department policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Baseball Coach or Director of Athletics.
