The Assistant Accounting Manager supports district accounting operations by assisting with accurate reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and helping ensure effective execution of core accounting processes. This role is ideal for a hands‑on accounting professional with emerging people‑leadership experience who can support team development, operational excellence, and compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and business needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to team support or informal leadership responsibilities.
Strong full‑cycle accounting and financial reporting experience.
Working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and deadline discipline.
ERP and reporting system experience; Oracle preferred.

Construction or related industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in coaching and developing the accounting team by supporting clear expectations and a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth.
Support delegation and coordination of work while providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
Assist with oversight of key accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month‑end/year‑end close.
Support the preparation and review of financial submissions and reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness; help follow up on issues and discrepancies.
Assist with financial reporting and analysis to support leadership decision‑making, including ad hoc reporting as needed.
Help identify risks, opportunities, and performance drivers, and contribute to forward-looking analysis.
Support planning and forecasting activities aligned with district and corporate objectives.
Assist in managing the district financial cycle and working capital in accordance with company policies.
Support internal controls, audit activities, and compliance requirements.
Help ensure required documentation (insurance, bonding, workers’ compensation, lien waivers, etc.) is current and compliant.
Support continuous improvement of accounting systems, processes, and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. e.g., trade partner issues, financial risk).
