About The Position

As part of Healthy Families New York, the Healthy Schenectady Families (HSF) program at CCE Schenectady promotes the well-being of families through evidence-based health and parenting education, primarily via home visits. The Senior Supervisor leads the program, overseeing staff, supporting professional development, and fostering community partnerships. This role operates with significant independence and reports to the Executive Director, while also coordinating with Schenectady County Public Health Services and the Office of Children and Family Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision, influencing policies and decisions for the Association and its constituents.
  • Ability to meet the regular travel requirements associated with this position.
  • A valid NYS driver's license with the ability to drive and driving record acceptable for Association insurance coverage are required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to effectively oversee programs and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and others.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use software including program related software, virtual meetings, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in education and human services is highly preferred.
  • Supervisory experience, providing leadership and guidance to an Extension or similar program.

Responsibilities

  • Engage community and staff in program development that reflects client needs by attending bi-weekly workgroups, quarterly advisory meetings, and participating in community events related to the target audience.
  • Contribute to educational strategies that align with proven methods and Healthy Families NY research.
  • Maintain direct communication with NYS Healthy Families agencies for program guidance.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for staff, agencies, and community groups.
  • Deliver HSF programming to target audiences using various methods including presentations, workshops, consultations, and digital media.
  • Promote program acceptance by addressing community needs and engaging audiences.
  • Represent CCE in the community including through well-prepared, engaging presentations and public interactions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain strong links with NYS Healthy Families for program delivery and evaluation support.
  • Apply and evaluate proven educational methods, ensuring alignment with the NYS Healthy Families plan of work.
  • Conduct program evaluations, interpret results, and recommend improvements based on findings.
  • Plan HSF programs in collaboration with partners and funders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with agencies, organizations, and community leaders; communicate program needs effectively.
  • Develop and deliver clear, targeted parenting and health messages.
  • Oversee staff professional development, evaluate effectiveness, and recommend improvements.
  • Manage program budget and ensure compliance with fiscal policies.
  • Supervise program staff, including 2 supervisors and up to 3 staff; oversee hiring, performance, development, and team relations per Association policies.
  • Resolve program-related issues and conflicts using appropriate procedures.
  • Ensure educational content aligns with Healthy Families NY standards.
  • Meet grant funding requirements and monitor fidelity to Healthy Families America Best Practice Standards and collaborating with Schenectady County Public Health Services.
  • Conduct outreach to identify and enroll high-need, eligible participants.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality and accurate records.
  • Complete required documentation and reports for programs and funders.
  • Collect and prepare routine program data.
  • Draft communications and provide information as requested to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories.
  • Prepare and submit expense reports and provide input to supervisor for budget preparation.
  • In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
  • Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
  • Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
  • Aware of, and adheres to, established Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Schenectady County policies, procedures and Cornell Cooperative Extension Skills for Success.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the organization by performing all assigned duties in a professional, timely and accurate manner.
