About The Position

Evercore seeks to hire an Experienced Associate for our Consumer Retail Team located in New York, NY. Evercore’s differentiated approach to advisory provides Associates with the ability to work closely with senior bankers on industry-transforming, multi-billion dollar transactions around the world. The small transaction team structure creates a strong platform for Associates to learn investment banking and assume high levels of responsibility at early stages of their careers. As part of the team, the Associate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of strategic advisory assignments including: sellside and buyside M&A engagements; activism and raid defense; divestitures and spin-off engagements; equity and equity-linked capital-raising; special committee engagements; debt and restructuring advisory and, more broadly, evaluation of strategic alternatives.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a strong interest in investment banking with solid quantitative and analytical skills, as well as the ability to think broadly about a range of strategic issues confronting the firm’s clients.
  • Knowledge of accounting, valuation, corporate finance, and business strategy is a must.
  • Responsibilities for an Associate include managing analysts, overseeing financial and valuation analysis, resolving complex financial and accounting issues, industry and competitive analysis, due diligence, drafting client presentation materials, management and execution of live deal situations, and assistance with new business development.
  • Be a rising Second Year MBA student from a top business school
  • Preferably three or more years of relevant work experience
  • Strong grasp of corporate finance, valuation, and financial accounting
  • Superior analytical skills and demonstrated excellence in academic coursework
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to articulate ideas
  • Outstanding communications skills, both written and oral
  • Great work ethic

Responsibilities

  • Work in a deal team on a variety of strategic advisory assignments including sell-side and buy-side M&A engagements, activism and raid defense, divestitures and spin-off engagements, equity and equity-linked capital-raising, special committee engagements, debt and restructuring advisory and, more broadly, evaluation of strategic alternatives
  • Managing analysts and assisting senior bankers across different project scenarios (live deal, new business development efforts, capital market update etc.)
  • Maintain regular and frequent dialogue with consumer staples clients, other investment banks, law firms, consulting companies and data room providers to keep the process on track in a live deal situation
  • Overseeing financial and valuation analysis including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), precedent transactions, public trading comparable, accretion / dilution, pro forma financial statement and leveraged buyout (LBO) analyses
  • Conducting relevant industry and competitive analysis along with analyzing capital markets trends to keep the clients and senior bankers informed on recent developments.
  • Utilize consumer staples market data applications such as Euromonitor and IRI to analyze market share, pricing and brand trends.
  • Management and execution of live deal situations, due diligence and resolving complex financial and accounting issues
  • Perform due diligence, research, analysis, and documentation of live transactions
  • Drafting client presentation materials such management presentations, information memorandum, pitch books for consumer staples clients
  • Prepare internal committee review materials for equity offerings
