About The Position

The Associate Vice President, Strategy Advancement and Decision Quality provides cross-functional strategic leadership to improve the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of enterprise and market-level decisions across Finance, IPA, Markets, and Growth Strategy. This role serves as an independent challenge and alignment function, ensuring strategic priorities, business assumptions, and key decisions are grounded in market realities, competitive dynamics, provider strategy, and enterprise objectives. The Associate Vice President partners with senior leaders to strengthen decision-making rigor, improve organizational alignment, and elevate business outcomes through sound judgment, effective governance, and disciplined evaluation of strategic tradeoffs. As a leader in strategy advancement, this role works across functions to improve how decisions are made, information is evaluated, and strategic priorities are translated into action through stronger decision frameworks, governance processes, and organizational alignment. The Associate Vice President serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, bringing an enterprise perspective to complex issues that span markets, products, provider relationships, and functional areas. The role helps surface emerging risks, identify critical interdependencies, and support leaders in navigating complex decisions. Success requires a deep understanding of organizational capabilities, market dynamics, and enterprise strategy, coupled with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights and influence stakeholders without direct authority.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an independent challenge and alignment function to improve the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of enterprise and market-level decision making.
  • Evaluate strategic priorities, assumptions, and growth initiatives to ensure alignment with enterprise objectives and market realities.
  • Advance organizational decision-making capabilities through improved frameworks, governance mechanisms, and decision disciplines.
  • Serve as Secretary of all Bid Decision Forums, maintaining the official record of decisions, assumptions, deliberations, votes, and action items while ensuring adherence to governance standards and established decision-making protocols.
  • Support Bid Decision Forum Chairs in the execution of governance responsibilities, including agenda development, decision documentation, issue escalation, and communication of outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of rigorous analysis, constructive challenge, accountability, and disciplined decision making across business functions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to executive leaders on significant strategic, operational, and market-related decisions.
  • Facilitate alignment across Finance, Markets, Provider Strategy, and Growth Strategy on priorities, assumptions, and key decisions.
  • Identify strategic interdependencies, unintended consequences, and areas of organizational misalignment.
  • Support enterprise governance and decision forums by ensuring discussions are informed by objective analysis and strategic context.
  • Drive greater transparency, consistency, and accountability in strategic decision-making processes.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members while fostering a culture of strategic thinking, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Influence senior leaders and stakeholders without direct authority to drive alignment and improve decision quality.
  • Build strong partnerships across business functions to advance organizational effectiveness and business outcomes.
  • Represent the function in enterprise governance, bid, and strategic leadership forums.
  • Shape enterprise and market-level decisions through independent challenge, strategic analysis, governance leadership, and cross-functional influence.
  • Recommend changes to assumptions, priorities, strategies, and decision approaches when warranted by analysis or changing market conditions.
  • Establish and enhance decision-making frameworks, governance mechanisms, and strategic review processes.
  • Serve as Secretary of enterprise Bid Decision Forums, helping ensure decision integrity, accountability, and institutional continuity.
  • Escalate significant risks, strategic tradeoffs, and organizational misalignments to executive leadership as appropriate.
  • Serve as an objective voice that strengthens organizational decision quality without assuming ownership of functional operations, financial planning, forecasting, or reporting.
