About The Position

The Associate Vice President (AVP) serves as a senior administrative leader within the Division of Finance and Administration and is responsible for coordinating and advancing operational initiatives that support a safe, efficient, and well-maintained campus environment. The position oversees assigned departments and administrative functions, ensures compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, and supports institutional planning and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Ten years of progressively responsible administrative or operational leadership experience.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience managing professional staff and organizational operations.

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
  • Experience in higher education administration.
  • Experience overseeing facilities, operations, construction, planning, environmental health and safety, or auxiliary services.
  • Experience administering complex contracts and vendor relationships.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety practices.
  • Knowledge of Emergency preparedness and continuity planning.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Ability to foster collaboration across divisions and departments.
  • Ability to manage large-scale operational projects.
  • Ability to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operational demands.
  • CTCM and/or CTCD Certification
  • Other relevant professional certifications

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and strategic direction for assigned operational units within the Division of Finance and Administration.
  • Serves as the institution's designated Campus Safety Survey Administrator, including policy development, training, data collection, preparation and distribution of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, and required reporting to the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Coordinates with appropriate University departments to identify, train, and support Campus Security Authorities.
  • Oversees Environmental Health & Safety and other assigned departments.
  • Collaborates with Facilities, Planning, Construction, and Operations personnel to support campus infrastructure planning, deferred maintenance initiatives, capital projects, and operational improvements.
  • Oversees and manages third-party contracts and service agreements including, but not limited to, facilities maintenance, grounds, custodial services, housing, food services, bookstore operations, construction management, and project management functions.
  • Monitors vendor performance and ensures contractual obligations, service levels, and customer service expectations are achieved.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives related to campus operations, safety, planning, sustainability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Develops and maintains productive working relationships with university stakeholders, external agencies, contractors, and community partners.
  • Supports emergency preparedness, business continuity, and risk mitigation efforts in collaboration with campus leadership.
  • Prepares reports, analyses, and recommendations for executive leadership regarding operational performance, compliance, and strategic initiatives.
