About The Position

GreenTree Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced DVM with a passion for surgery and a desire to grow within a collaborative, team-oriented environment. This role is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys hands-on surgery, is committed to practicing high-quality medicine, and is excited to continue developing their clinical skillset alongside a supportive team. Our practice has been serving the Libertyville community for over 20 years, utilizing modern technology and state-of-the-art veterinary techniques. We are an AAHA accredited animal hospital committed to providing veterinary excellence. Our practice is a well-equipped, multi-doctor hospital offering a full range of services including wellness care, advanced diagnostics, dentistry, and both routine and complex surgical procedures. We have a diverse caseload including dogs, cats, birds, and exotics. Our team is skilled, supportive, and collaborative, valuing communication, mentorship, and a positive work environment. We are actively working toward becoming a fully Fear Free Certified Practice, aiming to create a low-stress, compassionate experience for patients and clients, and a workplace where team members feel valued and supported.

Requirements

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
