About The Position

Red Barn Animal Hospital is seeking a DVM who enjoys building relationships and sharing knowledge. We are a growing, privately-owned, family-oriented small animal practice with two locations in Hampshire and Gilberts, IL. Our focus is on the client and patient experience, offering longer appointment times for low-stress handling, full workups, client education, and extra care. We provide family-friendly clinic hours with a "flex" period for catch-up and no on-call duties. Our new 5,000 sq ft facility is modern and charming, located in small-town communities that offer the benefits of country living with suburban conveniences. We are looking for a part-time or full-time Associate Veterinarian to join our team of four doctors, striving to offer the highest quality of care while valuing life outside of the office.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
Availability to work one evening per week (until 7 pm) and every other Saturday morning (8-12 pm)
Problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain medical terms and conditions using simple language
A positive and friendly attitude
Patience and a love for animals
Great attention to detail
Works well in a team environment
Able to multitask
Self-motivated
Calm under pressure

Nice To Haves

Work experience as a veterinarian preferred (although not required)
A desire to perform surgery is appreciated, but not required.

Responsibilities

Examine animals and check their health status
Recommend and deliver the appropriate preventative care services that fit the pet’s lifestyle
Diagnose illnesses and determine the best treatment
Treat wounds of injured animals
Prescribe medication
Recommend and interpret diagnostics tests
Client education
Update medical records
Perform client callbacks
Participate in staff development events
