About The Position

Oakview Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Full Time, Part-Time or Relief Veterinarian to join their team. This is a general practice clinic that sees small animals, exotics, and pocket pets. The clinic currently has 2 veterinarians and dedicated support staff. They offer mentorship for new graduates and future ownership opportunities. The Piqua, OH location offers a small-city feel with access to cultural amenities and outdoor activities.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
  • Active veterinary state license
  • Ability to sit or stand and work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to be confident around animals.
  • Mental capacity and processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • Sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform required duties while working.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate other equipment as required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Routine exposure to a variety of animals that may bite, kick or scratch.
  • Occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological or zoonotic hazards and/or medication/controlled substances.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preferred
  • Current DEA License preferred
  • USDA Accreditation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in general medicine, surgery and dentistry
  • Provide routine care, surgery, ultrasound, digital x-ray, cold laser therapy, dental care, and more.
  • Work with small animals, exotics, and pocket pets.
  • Collaborate with a team of veterinarians and support staff.
  • Potentially work more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties.
  • Work weekends, evenings, and/or holidays as needed.
