The Venture Growth team focuses on backing ambitious founders in technology and healthcare, investing in startups that have achieved significant scale and rapid growth. The team leverages the firm's integrated private markets platform and deep market intelligence to invest in breakout companies across various innovation cycles. The Venture Growth team is seeking a technology Investment Associate in their Menlo Park, CA office. This role is a core member of lean deal teams, contributing to the full investment lifecycle from thesis development and sourcing through diligence, execution, and portfolio monitoring.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in technology investment banking, consulting, principal investing (mid/late-stage VC, growth equity or PE), or analytical experience at a high-growth technology company
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for technology and emerging business models; active tracking of important companies, products, and market developments to form independent views about where technology is headed
  • High-ownership, detail-oriented self-starter who can manage multiple workstreams and competing deadlines
  • Advanced analytical / quantitative ability and excel modeling skills
  • Outstanding relationship-building and communication skills to engage effectively with founders, investors, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to structure and present complex ideas and information in a simple persuasive form, both written and orally

Responsibilities

  • All aspects of investment due diligence: business, market, management, competitive, financial/returns modeling, cap table analysis and legal diligence
  • Conducting extensive market research to bring sector insights to the team and identify potential new investment opportunities in the technology ecosystem
  • Developing relationships with leading private companies by attending conferences and proactively meeting with entrepreneurs and other investors
  • Preparing investment memoranda and presenting analysis and recommendations to the Investment Committee
  • Working on selected internal processes and strategic initiatives
