About The Position

Associate Underwriters participate in a structured training program with hands-on training, industry-specific coursework, mentoring, and job shadowing to build industry knowledge and prepare to become Personal Lines Underwriters. Under the supervision of mentors and management, they underwrite individual insurance applications within established guidelines for policy issuance.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree required, or equivalent industry exposure or experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Holding or pursuing industry licenses, designations, and certificates is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Use underwriting criteria to evaluate individual risks, including physical property evaluations, driving records, financial ratings, and loss experience.
• Work with peers, independent agency representatives, and vendors to gather risk information, explain underwriting policies and procedures, and negotiate coverage terms and conditions.
• Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders and business partners.
