About The Position

Specialty Insurance Solutions (SIS) is seeking an Associate Underwriter to join their team. The Associate Underwriter will develop profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for new and renewal business, operate under a designated level of authority, create strong agency relationships, and engage in the daily underwriting and processing of various transactions. This role involves reviewing applications, understanding rating methodology and coverage, making decisions within established authority, identifying and analyzing accounts, and recommending solutions when outside of authority. The position also emphasizes increasing customer satisfaction, setting proper customer expectations, and solving customer problems.

Requirements

Responsibilities

Develops profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for both new and renewal business.
Operates under a designated level of authority at the direction of assigned underwriters.
Creates strong agency relationships.
Engages in the daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions.
Uses established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority.
Reviews new and renewal business application documents and gathers additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies.
Understands rating methodology and coverage.
Makes decisions and recommendations for varied situations applying judgment to interpret related information, policies, and procedures.
Executes policies within established authority level.
Identifies and analyzes low-to-moderate complexity accounts and makes sound underwriting decisions.
Applies knowledge to help solve problems of low-to-moderate scope and complexity.
Recommends solutions when outside of authority level.
Committed to increasing customer satisfaction for both internal and external customers.
Sets proper customer expectations.
Assumes responsibility for solving customer problems.
Ensures commitments to customers are met.
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
