About The Position

As an Associate Underwriter, you will support the Underwriters in the Americas region in all tasks related to underwriting and administration required to support the Political Risk and Credit (PRC) team. You will work closely with our Underwriters supporting them in their activities associated with the analysis of new transactions and renewals, maintenance of the existing portfolio and management of relevant models, systems and documentation. As an outstanding team-player, you will assist the team in data quality assurance and continuous development of best practice in Business Services. You will utilize your robust communication and relationship building skills as you work closely with the underwriters, brokers, clients, and various functions and departments within the company.

Requirements

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to understand financial, credit and political risk concepts and assess financial statements and cash flow models.
  • Robust analytical skills with the ability to think quickly and innovatively always working in a disciplined manner.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and easily to new conditions and requirements, externally in the market or internally within a changing Organization.
  • Able to perform tasks according to established procedures, with some ability to exercise discretion.
  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), preferably with academic exposure to business, finance, international relations and related disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance relationships with assigned brokers and clients to maintain key relationships and identify and establish new distribution channels.
  • Collaborate across business units and functions to leverage existing resources to underwrite, manage and service PRC’s submission flow in accordance with the PRC underwriting unit goals.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the analysis and evaluation of transaction risk, to include appropriate documentation.
  • Participate in internal triage discussions to assess and prioritize new submissions.
  • Negotiate appropriate pricing with producers within the limits of any delegated authority and in accordance with established underwriting standards to achieve profit objectives.
  • Build expertise within the PRC community to understand and address the needs of our clients.
  • Maintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.
