About The Position

Our client, a world leader in semiconductors, is looking for an Associate Test Engineer I - Optical/Mechanical/Opto-Mechanical based in Milpitas, CA. This is a long-term contract position with the possibility of extension. The role involves performing the set-up, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies. The engineer will determine and potentially develop test specifications, methods, and procedures from blueprints, drawings, and diagrams. Responsibilities include testing and troubleshooting assemblies and final systems, completing rework as needed, and potentially assisting in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment. Technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions are also part of the role.

Requirements

ASEET, BSEET or BSEE and a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience.
Experience in testing digital and/or analog systems.
Ability to read complicated drawings and utilize mathematics, handbook formulas, and a variety of precision testing and measuring instruments.
Works on assignments that are extremely complex in nature where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations.

Responsibilities

Performing the set-up, optical alignment, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of optical systems, circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
Testing and troubleshooting assemblies and/or final systems.
Completing rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing.
Assisting in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment.
