Associate Technical Designer - Men's Outerwear & Swim
About The Position
J.Crew is seeking an Associate Technical Designer for Men's Outerwear & Swim. This role involves evaluating and measuring incoming garments to ensure they align with vendor-supplied measurements, understanding fit history, and meeting deadlines. The position requires conducting and leading fittings, communicating clearly with cross-functional team members, and building tech packs with detailed garment specifications. The Associate Technical Designer will work independently with factories to resolve construction and sewing issues, communicate daily with vendors and internal teams, and track samples to ensure approval dates are met.
Requirements
- College Degree in technical design, fashion design or equivalent work experience in related area
- 2-4 years of technical design experiences
- Knowledge of fit, grade rule and sewing
- Knowledge of pattern-making and draping
- Experience with PLM, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Illustrator

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and measure incoming garments to ensure alignment with vendor supplied measurements.
- Understand the fit history and deadlines that are in place.
- Conduct and lead fittings, communicating clearly with cross functional team members.
- Build tech packs that include garment sketches, standard sketches, construction sketches and details, technical trims, proper measurements and grade rules.
- Work independently with factories to resolve all construction/sewing problems.
- Communicate daily with vendors and internal teams.
- Track samples and counter samples to make sure all approval dates are met.
