About The Position

The Associate Technical Designer supports QVC or HSN and requires someone with knowledge of the entire product development cycle and all related milestones serving a role in coordinating style development from concept through fit approval and graded spec release. You are required to have technical skills in product development, garment construction and fit. You will provide support to the Technical Design team and focused support for one or more product categories/brands. Categories include woven, knits, sweaters intimates, swim wear and outerwear across multiple brands.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in fashion design or related program
Minimum 2-3 years industry experience with-in Technical Design or Patternmaking.

Responsibilities

Support department, as led by Sr. Managers Technical Design, while learning important product areas/brands.
Provide technical support in collaboration with partners to gain clear direction on matters about aesthetic, fit intent, specs, pattern, construction methods and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall quality of the garment.
Help establish pattern blocks to maintain fit consistency for product by establishing the initial block spec.
Ensure standard grade rules are applied to each garment.
Establish category/brand standards for fit, construction, and quality.
Complete technical specification packets including measurements specifications, construction details, appropriate tolerances, and any predefined performance standards.
Communicate with vendors/factories all information necessary to create the garments and corrections and approvals.
Identify potential production, quality and costing issues and make recommendations to ensure brand integrity.
Evaluate garment to determine compliance of spec, construction, fit intent, and aesthetic.
Participate in fit sessions on live models and mannequin.
Make appropriate fit and construction adjustments with vendors/factories to ensure integrity of aesthetic and fit intent are met.
Ensure all deadlines are met; support the T&A calendar objectives.
Work with Technical Design leaders to enhance and evolve processes as business evolves, while driving to elevate the quality of the product.
Collaborate and develop close working relationships with design, sourcing, merchandising, QA, sourcing offices and vendors to ensure all business practices are achieved and upheld.
Manage workload for own brands.
