About The Position

The Good Samaritan Family Resource Center (GSFRC) is seeking an Associate Teacher for its Child Development Center. This is a full-time, non-exempt position located at the Child Development Center Sites. The GSFRC is an innovative multi-service non-profit agency dedicated to helping immigrant families achieve self-sufficiency and community integration. The Child Development Center provides a State-licensed, full-day preschool program for children aged 2.5 to 5 years, focusing on a safe and nurturing environment that promotes physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development through a child-centered, developmentally appropriate curriculum. The dual-language (Spanish/English) program utilizes an interest-based learning environment and individualized activity planning to foster social-emotional skills, fine and gross motor development, dual language proficiency, creative learning, cognitive development, and pre-literacy skills.

Requirements

  • Associate teacher's permit required.
  • A minimum of 12 units of Early Childhood or Childhood Development courses.
  • Six months to 1-year work experience working with children ages 3-5 in a preschool environment.
  • Working knowledge of reporting procedures for child and adult protective services.
  • Experience with community care licensing policies and regulations.
  • State certified in First Aid and Infant/Child CPR.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have computer literacy and be proficient with Outlook.
  • Must complete full background check (Department of Justice, FBI, Child Abuse Index).
  • Must have TB clearance, Health Screening, and valid immunization records including influenza vaccination, MMR, and TDAP as required through Community Childcare Licensing.

Responsibilities

  • Stimulate emotional and social growth of children by helping develop age-appropriate activities and curriculum.
  • Meets the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child.
  • Implement and document diverse activities that are developmentally appropriate for children ages 2 1/2-5 years old.
  • Assist the teachers with the preparation of materials that are used in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist and at times lead circle time.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be able to work as a team.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences for case load children.
  • Communicate effectively and positively with children, parents and all other staff.
  • Collect observations, determine ratings, and report Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP).
  • Build monthly observational portfolios.
  • Stay informed and updated to adhere to all the necessary food safety and food handling guidelines and regulations set out by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, well-being and adequate supervision of the children at all times.
  • Maintain forms and reports as needed.
  • Constantly supervise the children under the regulations of the License of the State of California.
  • Comply with the legal standards for mandated reporting and child welfare laws.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, or other training sessions which are deemed beneficial to professional growth.
  • Meet weekly with our Wellness Initiative group.
  • Ensure that daily decisions, communication, interaction, and activities incorporate the Good Sam Values (Respect, Trust, Integrity, Corazon, Participation, Innovation).
