About The Position

L3Harris’ DoD SkillBridge is connecting transitioning service members to career training opportunities within our organization. We will provide service members with valuable civilian work experience through industry specific training, certifications and on the job experience during their DoD SkillBridge internship to help them ready themselves for their next mission. L3Harris aims to attract and retain veteran talent and to help bridge the gap between their military service and civilian careers within our organization. L3Harris is eager to share our knowledge and experience with our service members. This internship is an opportunity for the service member to gain a full understanding of the job position outlined below. TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR DOD SKILLBRIDGE JOB OPPORTUNITES YOU MUST BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE U.S. MILITARY WITH 180 DAYS OF SERVICE OR FEWER REMAINING PRIOR TO YOUR DATE OF SEPARATION AND HAVE AT LEAST 180 CONTINUOUS DAYS OF ACTIVE SERVICE . Will be involved in developing, maintaining, integrating, and managing ISR systems, networks, and system storage devices. Will be a part of a talented team of engineers who collectively demonstrate excellent technical competence, reliability in delivering mission-critical infrastructure, and who continually ensure the highest levels of accessibility, optimization, and security. This position combines an understanding of both software engineering and systems engineering. Will work with various departments to manage and develop ISR systems within L3Harris. Will work primarily with existing infrastructure that may involve world-wide travel for regular updates at all field locations. Requires the ability to speak technically to coworkers in development positions as well as at a higher level to both management and customer representatives. Requires the candidate to balance various aspects of a project, most of them complex issues such as re-architecting software design for existing issues and designing for the future.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to multi-task on numerous and varied system projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux required).
  • Basic understanding of how software works in conjunction with hardware interdependencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities are a must.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, OR In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • An active Secret clearance or TS/SCI clearance is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Engineering tools such as Jira, DOORS, Confluence.
  • Clear understanding of software troubleshooting process.
  • Ability to solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.
  • Enterprise LAN knowledge and familiarity with NETAPP.
  • Understanding of RC135 platform, CI, MSI, and flight line stages.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, maintaining, integrating, and managing ISR systems, networks, and system storage devices.
  • Working with various departments to manage and develop ISR systems within L3Harris.
  • Balancing various aspects of a project, including re-architecting software design for existing issues and designing for the future.
  • Identifying and finding solutions for defects and mitigating risk.
  • Testing and troubleshooting multiple operating systems.
  • Communicating effectively with developers to explain requirements.
  • Communicating at a higher level to management and customer representatives.
