About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is looking for an Associate Systems Engineer - Space Vehicle Engineer (Level 2) to join their team in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Space Vehicle Controller/Engineer (SVC) will be responsible for command and control of space vehicles (SV), telemetry monitoring, and execution and verification of products loaded to the SV. The selected candidate will be provided specialized training to learn the necessary skills related to ground and SV configuration management, allowing them to obtain the necessary certifications required for this position. This position is expected to be 100% onsite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • Able to successfully complete the Space Vehicle Certification program which requires a combination of self-study and on-the-job (OJT) training.
  • Experience in aerospace systems engineering.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts which include working days, nights, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. Security Clearance with a Counterintelligence Polygraph Pre-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with coding/scripting with various languages (MATLAB, Pearl, etc.).
  • Experience working with space vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring integrity of the ground system and command path in support of the mission.
  • Using Microsoft-Windows or UNIX based computers for the development of the operational plan and analysis of data collected in support of planning future contacts or anomaly resolution.
  • Coordination with management and peers to ensure the integrity of high-quality operational products, including procedures, tools, detailed event logging, and system configuration.
  • Analyzing technical data, verifying and sustaining specific systems configuration in accordance with defined constraints and operational requirements.
  • Monitoring system performance and controlling system elements by executing commands to change the system configuration in order to achieve mission objectives.
  • Supporting future system testing and integration requirements.
