About The Position

The Associate Surety Underwriter supports the underwriting and servicing of surety bond accounts by analyzing financial and operational information, evaluating risk, and assisting with underwriting decisions. This role works closely with agents, brokers, clients, and senior underwriting staff to help grow and maintain a profitable surety portfolio while providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing or a related field preferred
0–3 years of experience in insurance, underwriting, banking, finance, accounting, or a related industry preferred.
Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Outlook, and Teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering quality results
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of surety, commercial insurance, financial analysis, or credit underwriting is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist in the underwriting and evaluation of contract and commercial surety bond submissions.
Review financial statements, credit reports, work-in-progress schedules, and other underwriting documentation.
Analyze financial performance, liquidity, profitability, and overall creditworthiness of applicants.
Support the issuance, renewal, and servicing of surety bonds in accordance with company guidelines and authority levels.
Communicate with agents, brokers, and clients regarding underwriting requirements and bond requests.
Maintain accurate underwriting files and documentation.
Assist with special projects and portfolio management initiatives as assigned.
