About The Position

Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Associate Studio Engineer, Product Design opening in our Global Design Organization. In our 5 global studios we have more than 100 designers in dedicated teams of Graphic Design, Color Material and Finish, Craftsmanship, Industrial Design, Trends Forecasting, User Interaction, Motion Graphics, Usability, Design Research and Studio Engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree and 1+ years of engineering or design experience or Associates degree and 2+ years of engineering or design experience

Nice To Haves

• Ability to contribute effectively to Studio team critiques of processes and products
• Skill in identifying technically sound solutions that respect the aesthetic vision
• Foundational knowledge of craftsmanship and its relevance to product design
• Knowledge of diverse plastic production (e.g., blow molding, co-injection, two-shot molding) and steel fabrication (e.g., machined, folded) processes

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior Studio Engineering mentors to bridge the gap between Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams globally.
• Develop aesthetically compelling and innovative products that are technically and commercially viable.
• Maintain a commitment to consistency and a focus on operational excellence to deliver solutions that resonate with our customers.
• Stay informed about emerging materials and technologies and advocate for creative solutions.
• Maintain a rigorous standard of perceived quality in every technical discussion.
• Utilize Creo to build Aesthetic models and assemblies, using class A surfacing to preserve design integrity during technical transitions.
• Act as a liaison to align engineering specifications and marketing needs with the overall design vision.
• Support Industrial Designers by providing technical guidance on major layouts, human factors, and packaging.
• Solve complex challenges related to mechanics, structure, and manufacturing while ensuring engineering feasibility.
• Cultivate professional relationships and networks with internal partners to achieve unified design outcomes.
