About The Position

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is looking for Associate Structures Mechanics to join our F/A-18 team in San Antonio, TX. This role involves performing close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas. You will also locate blind holes for new structural item installation, perform sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure, and interpret engineering drawings and technical orders for structural modification/repair. The position requires using tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair, troubleshooting and repairing aircraft mechanical components, and performing structural modification and repair on sheet metal. You will also need knowledge of aircraft unique tools and the ability to access aircraft data via computer systems. Maintaining certifications, licenses, and permits is required. The job involves ensuring a safe working environment through Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems, ascending vertical work ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting loads of approximately 35 pounds.

Requirements

4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless
4+ years of experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
4+ years of experience using structures hand tools such as: drills 45 and 90 degrees, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns
4+ years of experience working heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking and fastening structures (i.e.. doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) to aircraft
Ability to work variable shifts (i.e. scheduled and unscheduled overtime; weekends and holidays) to support mission requirements
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance (F/A-18 or Depot Level)
Ability to operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment

Responsibilities

Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas
Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structure
Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure in accordance with standard repair processes
Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repair
Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts
Knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components
Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems
Knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc.
Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests
Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work
Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds
Ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and job task performance via Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems applications
