About The Position

Breakwater Strategy, a strategic insights and communications agency, is seeking an organized and detail-oriented junior professional to join a growing team of strategic communications advisors based in Washington, D.C. Breakwater advises companies, brands, coalitions, and non-profits on how to navigate change, crises, and complexities. The position combines client-facing work with support for one of the firm’s Partners. It’s a unique opportunity to both work for a variety of diverse clients while also working closely with a senior executive at the firm. As we grow, the opportunities for junior employees are vast. We are looking for someone to fill this position who is eager to rise to the challenge and join a smart, energized, and growing team. Recent graduates who have 1-2 years of relevant internship experience are best suited for this position at Breakwater. We’re open to skilled communicators and strategic thinkers of all educational tracks, and value diversity; a degree or internship in communications isn’t a prerequisite for this entry-level role. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus 1-2 years of relevant internship/work experience
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Strong writing and research skills

Responsibilities

• Monitor and/or compile daily press clips for clients
• Assist client teams in prep for meetings/pitches
• Basic writing and research tasks (including emails, meeting agendas, messaging documents, press materials, client documents, owned media content, etc.)
• Build and maintain press lists
• Pitch a wide variety of media contacts
• Prepare briefing documents, talking points, etc.
• Administrative support for client teams and staff, including scheduling, preparing and submitting expense reports, booking travel, and filtering internal and external requests
