About The Position

Our team is seeking an Associate to join our Strategic Communications team in New York, NY or Washington, D.C. to execute communication strategies for clients ranging from corporate leaders to advocacy groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Political Science, or a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in a communications role either in-house, agency, political campaign, government or consultancy environment. Internship experience considered.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and voice across formats and audiences.
  • Solid research and information-gathering skills, with sound judgment about source credibility.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience and/or interest in corporate, advocacy or political campaign environment
  • Experience and/or interest in press relations, message development and strategic planning.
  • Creativity, energy, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operational needs of client accounts, ensuring materials (e.g., agenda, notes, clips), timelines, and information (e.g., project trackers) are accurate and accessible.
  • Support the execution of client projects and work streams, own defined deliverables from start to finish.
  • Produce high-quality first drafts of communications materials, including press releases, pitches, op-eds, and thought leadership content.
  • Maintain current knowledge of media industry trends, emerging platforms, and the evolving media landscape.
  • Support media relations efforts, including media list development, reporter outreach, coverage tracking, and interview coordination.
  • Research and draft messaging and narratives that reflect a clear understanding of the client's vision, voice, and audience.
  • Work effectively across internal teams and functions to move client work forward.
  • Communicate clearly with peers, client leads, and small audiences, including through internal presentations.
  • Share knowledge with the team and support the onboarding and development of newer staff or interns.
  • Deliver assigned work on time and to a quality standard that requires minimal rework.
  • Keep documents, trackers, and shared resources organized and current for team use.
  • Understand how individual tasks connect to broader account and client goals.
  • Produce first-draft content — presentations, emails, client materials, social content — that is largely error-free and requires limited revision.
  • Apply feedback to improve future work products.
  • Conduct research that informs client strategy and problem-solving; escalate issues to senior staff when necessary.
