  • Duties will require physical activity, including accessing roofs, climbing ladders, and lifting and carrying of up to 60lbs of equipment.
  • Air travel required, balance of roughly 50% office – 50 % field.
  • On site at project locations 3-5 days for commissioning tasks.
  • Valid Drivers’ License in good standing, issued by resident state required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide commissioning engineering expertise across the design, construction, and startup phases of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems, applying advanced engineering knowledge to evaluate system performance, resolve technical issues, and support successful project delivery.
  • Evaluate and interpret system designs, including electrical plans and specifications, to determine commissioning requirements, system functionality, and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Apply engineering judgment to develop, adapt, and refine commissioning procedures and inspection frameworks to meet project-specific conditions.
  • Provide technical direction to Project Managers and project teams on commissioning strategy, sequencing, and execution to ensure alignment with design intent and performance objectives.
  • Independently assess system performance by reviewing contractor test results, analyzing data, and determining system acceptability based on engineering standards and project requirements.
  • Lead commissioning evaluations in the field, including oversight of inspections, system startups, and testing activities, ensuring systems operate in accordance with design specifications and operational expectations.
  • Analyze system behavior and test results (including thermography, IV curve tracing, and electrical measurements) to identify deficiencies, diagnose issues, and determine root causes.
  • Determine and recommend corrective actions by applying engineering principles and evaluating system risks, performance impacts, and compliance considerations.
  • Review and approve corrective actions and system readiness, ensuring issues are resolved and systems meet operational and safety standards prior to project turnover.
  • Synthesize technical findings into engineering conclusions, preparing commissioning reports that communicate system performance, risks, and recommended actions to internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as a commissioning engineering resource in project meetings, providing technical insights, risk assessments, and recommendations that inform project decisions.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and subcontractors to ensure technical alignment and resolution of complex system and commissioning challenges.
  • Apply engineering calculations and analytical methods to validate system performance and support engineering conclusions.
