About The Position

Goldman Sachs Bank USA in New York, New York is seeking an Associate, Software Engineering. This role involves developing, enhancing, supporting, and maintaining the Firm’s software solutions for its global businesses. The position requires designing and implementing high-quality, scalable technology solutions using internal and open-source services. Responsibilities include assisting with requirements gathering, user story refinement, development, various testing phases (unit, integration, regression), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and deployment. The role also involves collaborating with internal teams on solution designs, identifying new external technologies for business and platform transformation, and working through all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to meet internal and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the position requires designing, implementing, and maintaining robust testing suites for safe, complete, and scalable solutions across business lines.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or a related field and one (1) year of experience in job offered or a related software engineering role OR bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or a related field and two (2) years of experience in job offered or a related software engineering role.
  • Prior experience must include one (1) year of experience (with a Master’s degree) OR two (2) years of experience (with a Bachelor's degree) with 5 of the 7 following skills: C++ or Java; full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, documentation, deployment, and production support; building multi-threaded and multi-process service-oriented enterprise applications within Unix environment; programming technologies including Spring, Hibernate, RabbitMQ, or Kafka; relational database management system (RDBMS) such as Sybase or Oracle; micro-services architecture design and development including REST, Spring, or other back-end technologies; and database query languages, including SQL or NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, support and maintain the Firm’s software solutions in support of its global businesses.
  • Design and implement high-quality, scalable and thoughtful technology solutions leveraging both internal and open-source services.
  • Assist in requirements gathering, user story refinement, development, testing (unit, integration and regression), User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and deployment.
  • Work with internal teams to develop solution designs.
  • Identify new external technologies that can be used to transform our financial businesses and internal platforms in innovative and disruptive ways.
  • Work in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Design, implement and maintain robust testing suites to enable safe, complete, and scalable solutions across our business lines.
