About The Position

The Associate Software Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing a combination of custom and vendor business applications used in Universal's Revenue Operations (food & beverage, retail, and supply chain). This role works closely with business stakeholders and technical team members to understand business processes, assist with issue resolution, support application enhancements, and contribute to software development activities. The Associate Software Engineer participates in application support, testing, implementation activities, and system maintenance while gaining knowledge of Supply Chain business processes and supporting technologies. This position assists with application configurations, integrations, reporting solutions, and technical documentation while following established development standards, support procedures, and architectural guidelines.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant internship, co-op, academic project, or technical certification experience is a plus.
  • Basic exposure to programming languages such as .NET, C#, Java, HTML5, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with relational database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.
  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies and tools such as GitLab, Azure DevOps, or Jira.
  • Exposure to cloud-based or on-premise business applications is preferred.
  • Preferred experience with one or more of the following business functions: Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management, Retail Management Systems, Food & Beverage Systems, Reporting and Analytics, Data Integration, Master Data Management, Workflow Administration, Vendor Management, Procurement Processes

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support for Supply Chain applications and integrations.
  • Troubleshoot application and system issues and escalate complex problems as appropriate.
  • Assist with monitoring application performance, scheduled jobs, integrations, and system health.
  • Participate in routine system maintenance, upgrades, and deployment activities.
  • Support application configuration changes and validation efforts.
  • Document incidents, known issues, troubleshooting procedures, and resolutions.
  • Assist with after-hours support activities during major deployments and special business events.
  • Work with vendors and internal support teams to help resolve application defects and operational issues.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of software applications, reports, interfaces, and integrations.
  • Support coding, configuration, and testing activities under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Participate in unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, process flows, and support documentation.
  • Learn and apply software development standards and best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Support project implementation activities and enhancement initiatives.
  • Assist Product Owners, business users, and technical teams with gathering and documenting requirements.
  • Participate in system validation, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Contribute to maintaining documentation, templates, and support procedures.
  • Support compliance with established architecture, security, and governance standards.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
