About The Position

Concept Solutions, LLC is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to support a mission-critical application modernization and sustainment program for a Department of War customer. The engineer will collaborate with experienced software engineers to develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise web applications supporting critical federal operations. This early-career role offers the opportunity to expand technical expertise in Node.js, Go, and modern web technologies within a collaborative Agile development environment. The position is remote and full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern. The team works in two-week sprints and holds a customer demonstration at the end of each sprint. Travel is 0–10% within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance. An active Secret clearance or higher is strongly preferred and may allow for an earlier start. Compensation is $100,000–$110,000 annually, depending on experience.

Requirements

At least 1 year of backend software engineering experience using Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript) or Go (Golang); alternatively, at least 2 years of backend development experience using another strongly typed programming language, with demonstrated Node.js or Go projects.
U.S. citizenship.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience with PostgreSQL databases.
Familiarity with container technologies.
Active Secret security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and resolve software defects in web applications using React front ends and Node.js and Go backend services, under the guidance of senior engineers.
Develop, execute, and maintain automated tests to improve application quality, functionality, and reliability.
Participate in software patching, maintenance cycles, and application releases.
Collaborate with senior engineers and development team members on application modernization and sustainment activities.
Transition into the team's on-call support rotation following onboarding and training.
